Justice Department: Nearly 3.4 Million Violent Crimes Per Year Went Unreported to Police from 2006 to 2010

The importance of the 785-word press release below cannot be exaggerated. Since the mid-1990s, a number of journalists, including yours truly, have been exposing the statistical legerdemain behind the alleged revolutionary drop in crime. However, for every one of us, 100 other “professional journalists” have repeated the official lies, and I recently came across the first academic “criminologist” who finally questioned the fake stats, though he had for years uncritically parroted them, and to my knowledge has not offered an explanation for his change of heart. (He wants something like $95 for his work, so I’ve had to rely on discussions of it.)

Many writers, especially criminology professors have sought to “explain” the drop. My explanation, since 1996, has been that there is nothing to explain, because most of the drop never happened. I have documented, ad nauseam, the methods that urban police forces have devised, to “disappear” crimes by:

1. Redefining violent felonies (e.g., aggravated assaults and attempted murders) as misdemeanors or non-crimes;
2. “Unfounding” first-degree rapes into non-crimes;
3. Fraudulently filling out police reports of actual aggravated assaults or attempted murders by leaving out essential information such as weapon used;
4. Fraudulently undervaluing stolen property in felony grand larcenies, so that its theft counts as misdemeanor petty theft;
5. Patrol officers and detectives browbeating victims out of reporting crimes;
6. Sandbagging I: Making up non-existent rules that victims must fulfill, before a report will be filled out, and when a crime victim meets the ridiculous demand, making a newer more ridiculous one;
7. Sandbagging II: Making victims wait so many hours to at a police station, to make a police report, that most give up and go home; and
8. Flat-out refusing to fill out arrest reports; and
9. Ceding massive, ever-increasing territory to legal and illegal immigrant gangs through illegal “sanctuary” policies, such as the LAPD’s Special Order 40.

Police Departments are also aided and abetted in their crime fictions by the black supremacist “Don’t snitch” rule, whereby racist blacks so hate the forces of civilization that they shield their own victimizers from justice!

I have not foreclosed on the possibility of murder rates having dropped somewhat, but also do not believe the official numbers.

To the degree that the numbers really have fallen, this has been accomplished by massive numbers of stop-and-frisks by police of blacks and Hispanics. However, I have found some cases of “disappeared” murders, and expect to find many more. Note too that in some cities, most notoriously, Detroit, there are no-go zones full of corpses everywhere.

Whenever a “journalist” or professor of criminology has cited the incredible numbers over the past 18 or so years, he has relied on the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports (UCRs). These numbers are no more than what each local police department sends the Bureau; in other words, the funny numbers. The Bureau used to refuse acceptance of crime stats from some particularly notorious departments, such as Boca Raton, but it now it accepts all statistical racial fairy tales unchallenged.

There are many sources for crime statistics, all of which are cited in the state of the art report on race and crime, the New Century Foundation’s The Color of Crime. (New Century publishes the magazine/Webzine American Renaissance, which since 1990 has been the gold standard for scholarship and journalism on race, and to which I am honored to be a contributor since 2007.)

The National Crime Victimization Study (NCVS), which is the basis of the report cited below, is generally considered to be the gold standard, because it involves a massive telephone poll asking thousands of respondents nationwide if they have been victimized by criminals over the previous year. The credibility gap between the UCR and the NCVS makes the reliance by MSM journalists and tenured academics alike on the UCR stats all the more questionable. (To my knowledge, tenured professor of criminology Franklin Zimring, a prominent cheerleader for the UCR stats, never so much as mentions the many crime statistics scandals in his works.)

However, the NCVS is also far from perfect. For many years, the Bureau of Justice Statics (BJS) statisticians at the Justice Department who have compiled the NCVS have deliberately misrepresented interracial crime, in order to inflate the prevalence of white-on-black crime, reduce the percentage of black-on-white crime, and “disappear” Hispanic-on-black and Hispanic-on-white crime, and hate crimes altogether. The BJS routinely counts Hispanic-on-black crimes and hate crimes as white-on-black, and Hispanic-on-white as white-on-white, while breaking out Hispanics as a victim class. Thus, there would be white-on-Hispanic “hate crimes,” but no Hispanic-on-white “hate crimes.” (Since the category “hate crimes” is completely politicized, it is statistically worthless.)

In spite of all the “disappearing” of black-on-white crime, discouragement of white crime victims, and fudging by BJS, the numbers still come in, year after year, at 85-90 percent of interracial crimes (black-white) being committed by blacks against whites. Without the statistical legerdemain, and given that there are five times as many white as black “residents” in the U.S., white-on-black crime would be nearly non-existent.

Earlier this year, a BJS statistician assured a colleague of mine that the Bureau is reforming its record-keeping regarding interracial crime, but we’ll have to wait and see. That officials of the “Barack Obama”-Eric Holder Justice Department would release such a report is good news, in any event--but given the confict this report will cause, would I love to be a fly on the wall at Justice!

Nearly 3.4 Million Violent Crimes Per Year Went Unreported to Police From 2006 to 2010

WASHINGTON, Aug. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than half of the nation's violent crimes, or nearly 3.4 million violent victimizations per year, went unreported to the police between 2006 and 2010, according to a new report published by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS).

Using data from BJS's National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS), this new report examines characteristics of unreported victimizations, the reasons victims did not report crimes and trends from 1994 to 2010 in the types of crime not reported to police.

The percentage of violent and property crimes that went unreported to police declined from 1994 to 2010. Across the 17-year period, victims most commonly did not report violent victimizations to the police because they dealt with the crime in another way, such as reporting it to another official or handling it privately [N.S.: Revenge?].

Among unreported violent victimizations, the percentage of victims who believed the police would not or could not help doubled, from 10 percent in 1994 to 20 percent in 2010. [My emphasis.]

During the five-year period from 2006 to 2010, about three in 10 crimes involving a weapon and an injury went unreported to police. Among these, the most common reason (42 percent) for not reporting was fear of retaliation [fear of gangbangers] or of getting the offender into trouble [the “don’t snitch” ideology]. This fear was also the most common reason (46 percent) victims did not report intimate partner violence to the police. Crimes perpetrated by someone the victim knew well, such as a neighbor, coworker or teacher (62 percent), or by a casual acquaintance (60 percent) were more likely to go unreported than crimes committed by a stranger (51 percent).

Serious violent crime (defined as rape or sexual assault, robbery, or aggravated assault) was less likely to go unreported to the police in 2010 than in 1994. The percentage of unreported serious violent victimizations declined from 50 percent in 1994 to 42 percent in 2010. Unreported simple assault (assaults not involving an injury or a weapon), and property crime victimizations followed a similar pattern during the same period. The percentage of unreported simple assaults declined from 63 to 51 percent, and unreported property crime declined from 67 percent to 60 percent. [For the past app. 20 years, however, when victims do report these crimes, the police have been routinely downgrading them from felonies to misdemeanors or non-crimes, or “disappearing” them altogether.]

On average, an estimated 211,200 rapes and sexual assaults went unreported to police each year between 2006 and 2010. Although serious violent crime was generally less likely to go unreported to the police than simple assault, a higher percentage of rape or sexual assault (65 percent) than simple assault (56 percent) victimizations went unreported over the five-year period.

From 2006 to 2010, a greater percentage of victimizations against men (55 percent) than women (49 percent) were not reported to the police. A greater percentage of violent victimizations against white non-Hispanics (54 percent) than black non-Hispanics (46 percent) went unreported to the police. Among victims of violence, women (20 percent) were more likely than men (8 percent) to say they did not report to the police because they were afraid of reprisal or of getting the offender in trouble.

During the five-year period, nearly three-quarters of all violent victimizations occurring at school were not reported to police. [This was often due to institutionalized obstruction of justice by school officials.] Of the more than 450,000 unreported violent crimes at school on average each year, half were not reported because they were dealt with in some other way, such as reported to school staff or other officials, or were considered to be a private or personal matter. A fifth thought the crime was not important enough to report.

The NCVS provides the largest data collection on criminal victimization independent of crimes documented by law enforcement. Estimates from the NCVS, which includes offenses both reported and not reported to police, complement those from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program (UCR), which measures crimes reported to law enforcement agencies across the nation.
During 2010, 40,974 households and 73,283 individuals age 12 and older were interviewed twice for the NCVS.
